Talks and Workshops

Along side the incredible exhibition of work, the University are also hosting a series of free talks and workshops on the afternoon of Saturday 9th June.

12.00 - 14.00 Architectural Sketching Workshop (Memories Room / Pier Head) 

Sketching is a core way of thinking for architects and designers. Students from product design, architecture and interior architecture will be running short drawing workshops on the pier to suggest what you might choose to draw and different ways of drawing.  Bring paper, sketchbooks, pens or pencils.  All ages welcome.

 


13.00 - 14.00 Students Present their Work (Memories Room)


Students from product design, architecture and interior architecture will be giving short presentations of their projects from this year. Subjects they will cover will be timber engineering, place making, circular economies, retrofit housing and usability of products.

 


2.30pm Reflections on the Redevelopment of Hastings Pier (Memories Room)

A retrospective look at the rebuild of Hastings Pier by Michael Spooner, one of the architects involved in the project, and founder of StudioSpoon.


3.30pm 'Hastings Pier - Past, Present and Future' (Main Stage)

A conversation / discussion with questions from the floor, chaired by the University's Kate Cheyne, with a panel including Jess Steele (OBE) and architects Michael Spooner and Iain Exley.
