Many of you will have seen press articles speculating on the future of the Pier and we wanted to confirm to you that we are hard at work talking to some interested parties who think can deliver a secure long term and viable future for Hastings Pier. Currently these talks are being held under confidential terms whilst we fully explore the various aspects of the proposals and make sure they are properly funded and acceptable in principle to the Local Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund, who hold first charge over Hastings Pier.
There is no intention on our part to withhold information but until we can give you a reliable communication regarding the outcome of those discussions, they must by necessity remain private. Please rest assured that as we can communicate proposals to you, we will do so.
As part of our efforts to ensure the widest possible opportunities we are also conducting a wider marketing campaign of the Pier via our national agents GVA Grimley, which we mentioned in our administrators' proposals document. Marketing of the Pier will ensure we have done everything possible to generate new leads – and you will certainly see some press articles regarding this.
Please rest assured that this is all part of our efforts to highlight this wonderful award-winning heritage asset and the great work which is being done to ensure it remains at the heart of Hastings' community and regeneration. We continue to seek organisations and individuals with the specialised knowledge, sensitivities, coherent business plans and extensive finances necessary to ensure that the Pier can continue as a going concern long into the future.
As always, the Pier remains open and we hope you continue to visit and support it. We are pleased to confirm that there continues to be upcoming events. These include:
- Cabaret Mechanical Theatre exhibition March 15th (for one month) with many related talks/workshops and fundraising activities
- Easter Markets (plus 6 more market dates throughout 2018)
- First of 3 Pier Jam gigs on 28 April 2018 – details to follow
- Pirate Day event
- Other major Music gigs planned throughout the Summer
We know that you remain interested and concerned regarding the future of Hastings Pier and we want to give you assurance that we are all working towards the same outcome. Please keep supporting the Pier and we will keep you updated as all matters progress.
